247 - An indigenous person was killed this Thursday (14th), in Amambai (MS), in a land conflict between rural landowners and indigenous people from the Guaranis Kaiowá ethnic group. According to the association Aty Guasu and the Indigenous Missionary Council (CIMI), Marcio Moreira was killed after being ambushed with two other indigenous people, one of them a minor, who escaped with gunshot wounds. Leaders said that the third indigenous person was arrested by the police, accused of being the author of the crime. The information was published this Thursday (14) by the newspaper O Globo.

Natanael Vilharva Cáceres, a Guarani Kaiowá leader and a member of Aty Guasu, the great Guarani Kaiowá national assembly, said that the indigenous people "were approached by two motorcycle riders who pointed a gun at their heads". "The youngest managed to drop the gun and run, but he was shot by a graze. Marcio Moreira, on the other hand, died, shot in the head", he continued.

According to Cáceres, the third indigenous person in the group, who fled the ambush, is Willis Fernandes, son of Vitor Fernandes, who died at the end of June. He would have been arrested by the police, accused as the author of the crime.
